    Gender based violence (GBV) is a significant public health concern for women globally, including countries such as India. The researchers investigated factors related to GBV and GBV-related homicides perpetrated by both husbands and in-laws using a qualitative approach. Data were collected from 27 women in India. Analysis revealed factors at the societal/cultural (e.g. dowry), community (e.g. inadequate resources), relationship (e.g. in-laws abuse) and individual (e.g. internalized powerlessness) levels. Findings highlight the need for culturally appropriate risk assessment and safety planning procedures, as well as policies and programs across different ecological levels to reduce risk for GBV and GBV-related homicides.

Research on student-athlete health may benefit from examining emotion regulation training techniques.The aim of this research was to screen the ZINC15 database to select lead compounds and drug candidates which can inhibit B-RAF (V600E). In order to identify drugs potentially inhibited B-RAF (V600E), numerous modules of Discovery Studio 4.5 were employed. Structure-based screening using LibDock was carried out followed by ADME (absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion) and toxicity prediction. CDOCKER was performed to demonstrate the binding affinity and mechanism between ligands and B-RAF(V600E). To evaluate whether ligand-receptor complexes were stable, molecular dynamics were employed. Two novel natural compounds (ZINC000100168592 and ZINC000049784088) from ZINC15 database were found binding to B-RAF(V600E) with more favorable interaction energy in comparison with the reference drug Vemurafenib. Also, they were predicted with less ames mutagenicity, rodent carcinogenicity, non-developmental toxic potential and tolerance to cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6). The molecular dynamics simulation analysis indicated that the compound-B-RAF(V600E) complexes had more favorable potential energy compared with Vemurafenib and they can exist in natural environments stably. The result of this study shows that ZINC000100168592 and ZINC000049784088 are ideal leading potential compounds to inhibit B-RAF(V600E). The findings of this study and these selected drug candidates greatly contributed to the medication design and improvement of B-RAF(V600E) and other proteins.Child physical activity (PA) declines during summer reducing PA-related health benefits. Summer care programs (e.g., Boys & Girls Clubs) can promote active play while providing opportunities for friendships. Sport participation is a positive influence on PA and social development. Purpose This article investigates the role of sport participation in PA attainment, perceived skill competency, and social connection at a summer care program. Methods Children self-reported PA, sport participation, and the names of up to five peers whom they played with most at the program at the start (T1; n = 100; M age = 9.94 years; SD = 1.34; 47% male) and end (T2; n = 77; M age = 9.83 years; SD = 1.46; 51% male) of summer. Network autocorrelation models were used to determine if child sport participation was significantly associated with those they played with at the program. Trolox cell line ResultsChildren who reported sport participation reported significantly more PA than those who did not at T1, but not T2. Child sport participation was significantly related to that of the peers they said they spent time with while at the program for T1 (β = 0.07, p less then .01), but not T2 (β = 0.06, p = .10). Additionally, PA (β = 0.08, p less then .01; β = 0.07, p = .01) and skill competency (β = 0.11, p = .02; β = 0.15, p less then .01) were significantly associated with sport participation at both time points. While sports participation was a key factor in child friendships at the start of summer, the program allowed children, regardless of sport participation, to become friends outside of sports. Conclusions These results suggest summer care programs promote PA through play and provide opportunities for children to facilitate friendships regardless of sport participation.Autophagy is a highly conserved catabolic process which has been implicated in esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC). We sought to investigate the biological functions and prognostic value of autophagy-related genes (ARGs) in EAC. A total of 21 differentially expressed ARGs were identified between EAC and normal samples. Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analysis were then applied for the differentially expressed ARGs in EAC, and the protein-protein interaction (PPI) network was established. Cox survival analysis and Lasso regression analysis were performed to establish a prognostic prediction model based on nine overall survival (OS)-related ARGs (CAPN1, GOPC, TBK1, SIRT1, ARSA, BNIP1, ERBB2, NRG2, PINK1). link2 The 9-gene prognostic signature significantly stratified patient outcomes in The Cancer Genome of Atlas (TCGA)-EAC cohort and was considered as an independently prognostic predictor for EAC patients. Moreover, Gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) analyses revealed several important cellular processes and signaling pathways correlated with the high-risk group in EAC. This prognostic prediction model was confirmed in an independent validation cohort (GSE13898) from The Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. We also developed a nomogram with a concordance index of 0.78 to predict the survival possibility of EAC patients by integrating the risk signature and clinicopathological features. The calibration curves substantiated favorable concordance between actual observation and nomogram prediction. Last but not least, Erb-B2 Receptor Tyrosine Kinase 2 (ERBB2), a member of the prognostic gene signature, was identified as a potential therapeutic target for EAC patients. To sum up, we established and verified a novel prognostic prediction model based on ARGs which could optimize the individualized survival prediction in EAC.

    We used a cross-sectional survey to assess demographics, depression, discrimination and social standing using validated scales and estimate the relations between depression and co-factors.

    25.4% of students reported depression. Discrimination was associated with a higher level of depression and more severe symptoms. Higher perceived social status was associated with a lower level of depression and less severe symptoms. Hispanic/Latinx first generation women had three times the prevalence of depression as non-Hispanic/Latinx non-first generation men and there was a significant disparity in depression severity.

The role of salicylic acid (SA) in 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate synthase (ACS), sodium-hydrogen exchanger (NHX1), salt overly sensitive 1 (sos1) and high-affinity K+ transporter (HKT1;2) transcripts, and ACS enzyme activity and ethylene (ET) production, and growth and physiological attributes was evaluated in tomato cv. Pusa Ruby under salinity stress. Thirty days-old seedlings treated with 0 mM NaCl, 250 mM NaCl, 250 mM NaCl plus 100 µM SA were assessed for different growth and physiological parameters at 45 DAS. link3 Results showed ACS, NHX1, sos1 and HKT1;2 transcripts were significantly changed in SA treated plants. The ACS enzyme activity and ET content were considerably decreased in SA treated plants. Shoot length (SL), root length (RL), number of leaves (NL), leaf area per plant (LA), shoot fresh weight (SFW) and root fresh weight (RFW) were also improved under SA treatment. Conversely, the electrolyte leakage and sodium ion (Na+) content were significantly reduced in SA treated plants. In addition, the endogenous proline and potassium ion (K+) content, and K+/Na+ ratio were considerably increased under SA treatment. Likewise, antioxidant enzymes (SOD, CAT, APX and GR) profile were better in SA treated plant. The present findings suggest that SA reverse the negative effects of salinity stress and stress induced ET production by modulating ACS, NHX, sos1 and HKT1;2 transcript level, and improving various growth and physiological parameters, and antioxidants enzymes profile. This will contribute to a better understanding of salinity stress tolerance mechanisms of tomato plants involving SA and ET cross talk and ions homeostasis to develop more tolerant plant.This study aimed to explore the molecular mechanisms related to immune and hub genes related to pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). The differentially expressed genes (DEGs) of GSE15197 were identified as filters with adjusted P value 1. Biofunctional and pathway enrichment annotation of DEGs indicated that immunity and inflammation may play an important role in the molecular mechanism of PAH. The CIBERSORT algorithm further analyzed the immune cell infiltration characteristics of the PAH and control samples. Subsequently, 16 hub genes were identified from DEGs using the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) algorithm. An immune related gene CX3CR1 was further selected from the intersection results of the 16 hub genes and the top 20 genes with the most adjacent nodes in the protein-protein interaction (PPI) network. GSE113439, GSE48149, and GSE33463 datasets were used to validate and proved CX3CR1 with a remarkable score of AUC to distinguish PAH samples caused by various reasons from the control group.

    We sought to identify racial/ethnic patterns of health care utilization for asthma among asthmatic children (ages 0-18) and address unequal access to optimal asthma management as a determinant of asthma disparities.

    We used children Medi-Cal (California’s Medicaid program) enrollees, including African American, Asian, Hispanic, and White children in Los Angeles and retrieved individual hospital utilization records of 69,118 asthmatic children (2013-2018). We applied Hierarchical Generalized Linear Models (HGMLs) to identify the patterns of health care utilization at the individual level, controlling for demographic and neighborhood characteristics.

    African American children show a higher ratio of ED to outpatient visits (OR = 1.32, 95% CI 1.08-1.62) and hospitalizations to outpatient visits (OR = 1.50, 95% CI 1.30-1.73). They also had a high ratio of ED visits (OR = 1.36, 95% CI 1.10-1.68) and hospitalizations (OR = 1.47, 95% CI 1.26-1.71) relative to PCP visits.
