    Comparing the pathogen genomes from several cases of an infectious disease has the potential to help us understand and control outbreaks. Many methods exist to reconstruct a phylogeny from such genomes, which represents how the genomes are related to one another. However, such a phylogeny is not directly informative about transmission events between individuals. TransPhylo is a software tool implemented as an R package designed to bridge the gap between pathogen phylogenies and transmission trees. TransPhylo is based on a combined model of transmission between hosts and pathogen evolution within each host. TransPhylo can also reconstruct a transmission tree based on a dated phylogeny, by exploring the space of transmission trees compatible with the phylogeny.     Information about hospital admissions for skin diseases is restricted to studies describing admissions to single centers, to specific wards, or only for a few diagnoses, and there is no information about the outcomes between different wards. The aim of this research is to describe hospital admissions due to dermatological diseases.

    Cross-sectional study of hospital discharges at Spanish hospitals. Discharges were assumed to be the same as admissions.

    519,440 discharges (1.1% of total discharges) were identified. Most admissions (60.1%) were done from emergency departments. Only 7% of cases were admitted to dermatology wards. The most prevalent group was cellulitis and acute lymphangitis. Median age was 57 years, and men were more common. The median length of hospital stay was four days; 40,823 (7.9%) cases required readmission. There were 13,558 (2.6%) hospital deaths. After adjusted analysis (by age, sex and group of diagnosis), the OR of readmission was 1.49 (95% CI 1.42-1.57) times higher and length of stay was 0.22 (95% CI 0.15-0.29) days longer in non-dermatology wards (P<0.0001). From 2006-2016, admissions to dermatology wards decreased 38%, while in non-dermatology wards they increased 8%.

    Breed predispositions, survival, and prognostic factors have not been evaluated in dogs with nonregenerative immune-mediated anemia (nrIMA).

    To describe clinicopathologic variables, evaluate their associations with survival, and determine breed predispositions for dogs with nrIMA.

    Referral hospital records were reviewed retrospectively for dogs with primary nrIMA (PCV ≤30%, corrected reticulocyte percentage (CR%) ≤1.0, bone marrow sampling with evidence of immune-mediated destruction, and underlying causes excluded). Breed predispositions were evaluated by calculation of odds ratios in a case control study; prognostic factors by logistic regression in a cohort study.

    Fifty-nine dogs with nrIMA had a median PCV of 12% (interquartile range [IQR] 10%-17%) and CR% 0.1 (0%-0.2%). At least ≥1 ACVIM IMHA diagnostic criteria were met by 35 dogs (59%). Whippets, Lurchers, and miniature Dachshunds were predisposed to nrIMA. Median survival time was 277 days (IQR 37-1925), with 3- and 12-month survival rates 61% and 43%, respectively.
