Especially in numerical simulation, suitable rheological models and the realistic determination of parameters are crucial. Since the shear-induced particle migration is largely dependent on the maximum grain size, an ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) with a maximum particle size of only 0.5 mm was also investigated in the laboratory mixer KNIELE KKM-RT. The integrated rheometer enables also the active homogenization of the fresh concrete during pre-shearing but without the danger of over-mixing, as it is the case for the experimental ICAR setup. This article proves that relevant differences can also be identified for such a material. An amorphous precursor of Cr2O3 pigment was prepared via solution combustion synthesis. After calcination at 1000 °C for 1.0 h, the precursor was converted into well-crystallized submicron Cr2O3 crystals with uniform particle distribution and low aggregation. Furthermore, Ti, Co, and Fe were doped into the lattice of Cr2O3, and the effects of these dopants on the reflectance spectroscopy modulation as well as chromatic properties were investigated in detail. As a result, a series of Cr2O3 pigment samples sharing similar spectra within the wavelength from 400 to 1600 nm with green plants could be successfully fabricated.Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common cancer worldwide and a leading cause of cancer-related deaths in developed countries. Anthocyanins are a class of flavonoids, widely distributed in food, exhibiting important biological effects. Cyanidin chloride (CyCl) is the common type of anthocyanin with antioxidative and anti-inflammatory potential. The present study aimed to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying the chemotherapeutic effects of CyCl in colorectal cancer cells. We found that CyCl treatment induced apoptosis as well as a significant inhibition of cellular proliferation and colony formation in three colon cancer HCT116, HT29, and SW620 cells. In addition, CyCl suppressed nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) signaling and induced the activation of the nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) pathway in tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α)-stimulated colon cancer cells. Nrf2 and NF-κB are two key transcription factors regulating antioxidative responses and cellular proliferation, respectively. In this study, knockdown of Nrf2 by small interfering RNA (siRNA) transfection inhibited the effect of CyCl on NF-κB signaling and apoptosis, suggesting that there is functional crosstalk between Nrf2 and NF-κB. Our findings demonstrate the important role of Nrf2 in inducing apoptosis through the involvement of NF-κB signaling in colorectal cancer cells, suggesting that CyCl may be used as a potential therapeutic agent for CRC.We report the morphologies of tin-doped indium oxide (ITO) hollow microtubes and porous nanofibers produced from precursor solutions of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), indium chloride (InCl3), and stannic chloride (SnCl4). The polymer precursor fibers are produced via a facile gas jet fiber (GJF) spinning process and subsequently calcined to produce ITO materials. The morphology shows strong dependence on heating rate in calcination step. Solid porous ITO nanofibers result from slow heating rates while hollow tubular ITO microfibers with porous shells are produced at high heating rates when calcined at a peak temperature of 700 °C. The mechanisms of formation of different morphological forms are proposed. The ITO fibers are characterized using several microscopy tools and thermogravimetric analysis. The concentration of inorganic salts in precursor solution is identified as a key factor in determining the porosity of the shell in hollow fibers. The data presented in this paper show that GJF method may be suitable for fabrication of hollow and multi-tubular metal oxide nanofibers from other inorganic precursor materials.Peripheral nerve injury (PNI) leads to the loss of motor, sensory, and autonomic functions, and often triggers neuropathic pain. During the last years, many efforts have focused on finding new therapies to increase axonal regeneration or to alleviate painful conditions. Still only a few of them have targeted both phenomena. find more Incipient or aberrant sensory axon regeneration is related to abnormal unpleasant sensations, such as hyperalgesia or allodynia. We recently have discovered NeuroHeal, a combination of two repurposed drugs; Acamprosate and Ribavirin. NeuroHeal is a neuroprotective agent that also enhances motor axon regeneration after PNI. In this work, we investigated its effect on sensory fiber regeneration and PNI-induced painful sensations in a rat model of spare nerve injury and nerve crush. The follow up of the animals showed that NeuroHeal treatment reduced the signs of neuropathic pain in both models. Besides, the treatment favored sensory axon regeneration, as observed in dorsal root ganglion explants. Mechanistically, the effects observed in vivo may improve the resolution of cell-protective autophagy. Additionally, NeuroHeal treatment modulated the P2X4-BDNF-KCC2 axis, which is an essential driver of neuropathic pain. These data open a new therapeutic avenue based on autophagic modulation to foster endogenous regenerative mechanisms and reduce the appearance of neuropathic pain in PNI.Mobile applications reach a high number of individuals at low costs. This systematic review investigated the effectiveness of mobile application-based interventions to increase physical activity (PA) and self-efficacy and to decrease sedentarism. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and quasi-RCTs investigating the effect of PA interventions using an app compared to no intervention or traditional interventions were included. Pooled effects using the standardized mean difference (SMD) or the weighted mean difference (WMD) were calculated and the overall quality of the evidence was rated using the GRADE. Eleven studies were included. In the short term, pooled estimates showed a small and positive effect in the number of steps favoring interventions using a mobile app when compared with no interventions (WMD = 1579.04, 95%CI 454.04 to 2703.38) and with traditional interventions (WMD = 665.96, 95%CI 167.92 to 1164.00). For self-efficacy and at follow-up, results favoured traditional interventions (WMD = -8.20, 95%CI -14.
