    reducing DUP. Simplifying administrative procedures may further assist in reducing DUP.

    Although much of the variance in DUP is unexplained, especially for help-seeking component, the systemic portion of DUP may be partially determined by relatively malleable factors. Interventions directed at altering pathways to care and promote rapid access may be important targets for reducing DUP. Simplifying administrative procedures may further assist in reducing DUP.Sample preparation methods have become indispensable steps in analytical measurements not only to lower the detection limit but also to eliminate the matrix effect although more sophisticated instruments are being commonly used in routine analyses. Solid phase extraction (SPE) is one of the main extraction/preconcentration methods used to extract and purify target analytes along with simple and rapid procedures but some limitations have led to seek for an easy, sensitive and fast extraction methods with analyte-selective sorbents. Nanoparticles with different modifications have been used as spotlight to enhance extraction efficiency of target pesticides from complicated matrices. Carbon-based, metal and metal oxides, silica and polymer-based nanoparticles have been explored as promising sorbents for pesticide extraction. In this review, different types of nanoparticles used in the preconcentration of pesticides in various samples are outlined and examined. Temsirolimus datasheet Latest studies in the literature are discussed in terms of their instrumental detection, sample matrix and limit of detection values. Novel strategies and future directions of nanoparticles used in the extraction and preconcentration of pesticides are also discussed.Velogenic Newcastle disease virus (NDV) strains, which show high mortality in chickens, generally do not cause severe disease in waterfowl such as ducks. To elucidate the difference in the pathogenic mechanisms of NDV between chickens and ducks, a chicken-derived velogenic strain (9a5b) was passaged in domestic ducks five times in their air sacs, followed by 20 times in their brains. Eventually, 9a5b acquired higher intracerebral and intranasal pathogenicity in ducks. The intracerebral pathogenicity index (ICPI) value increased from 1.10 to 1.88. All one-week-old ducks intranasally inoculated with the passaged virus (d5a20b) died by 5 days post-inoculation, whereas 70% of the ducks inoculated with parental 9a5b survived for 8 days. The d5a20b strain replicated in broader systemic tissues in ducks compared with the 9a5b strain. The velogenic profile of 9a5b in chickens was maintained after passaging in ducks. The d5a20b suppressed IFN-β gene expression in duck embryo fibroblasts and replicated more rapidly than 9a5b. A total of 11 amino acid substitutions were found in the P, V, M, F, HN, and L proteins of d5a20b. These results suggest that chicken-derived velogenic NDVs have the potential to become virulent in both chickens and ducks during circulation in domesticated waterfowl populations. RESEARCH HIGHLIGHTSChicken-derived NDV acquired high pathogenicity in ducks with serial passaging.The passaged NDV showed intracerebral and intranasal pathogenicity in ducks.The passaged NDV efficiently replicated in systemic tissues in ducks.Of 11 amino acid substitutions some or all are likely involved in pathogenicity.

    The increasing focus on adolescent personality disorder has tended to ignore evidence of the developmental continuity of the period from puberty to young adulthood. This study aims to (1) describe the characteristics of a sample of young people with borderline personality disorder (BPD) who had no previous history of evidence-based treatment for the disorder and (2) compare their characteristics by participant age group.

    One hundred and thirty-nine young people (15 to 25 years) with BPD, newly enrolled in the Monitoring Outcomes of BPD in Youth randomized controlled trial, completed semi-structured interview and self-report measures assessing demographic, clinical, and functional characteristics. Younger (aged 15 to 17 years;

    = 64) and older (aged 18 to 25 years;

    = 75) participants were compared on these same variables using

    -tests, chi-square tests, and logistic regression.

    Young outpatients with BPD had extensive and severe psychopathology and were functioning poorly. Adolescents and young adund intervention for personality disorder should not be delayed until individuals reach 18 years of age.

    Both adolescents and young adults with early stage BPD present with severe and often similar problems to one another, supporting developmental continuity across this age range. However, there are also meaningful differences in presentation, suggesting that pathways to care might differ by age and/or developmental stage. Detection and intervention for personality disorder should not be delayed until individuals reach 18 years of age.

    The effects of intracoronary (IC) thrombolysis therapy in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) receiving primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI) remain unclear.

    The meta-analysis was conducted according to the PRISMA statement. All relevant studies were identified by searching the PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science, with no time or language limitation. The pooled risk ratio (RR) and weighted mean difference (WMD) with a 95% CI were calculated.

    Nine randomized controlled trials involving a total of 1341 patients were included. Compared with the control group, IC thrombolysis in patients with STEMI could reduce the incidence of major adverse cardiac events (MACE; RR 0.632, 95% CI, 0.474-0.843,

    = .002) and improve left ventricular ejection fraction (RR 0.343, 95% CI, 0.178-0.509,

    < .001) and myocardial microcirculation. However, there was no difference noted in the mortality (RR 0.759, 95% CI, 0.347-1.661,

    = .490). The incidence rate of major bleeding and minor bleeding was comparable between the 2 groups.

    Intracoronary thrombolysis was associated with improved MACE and myocardial microcirculation in patients with STEMI having PPCI, though it failed to improve mortality.
