The group residing in inland municipalities and those traveling a distance of >70 km had a higher average relative risk of death (RR=1.21, 95%CI 1.05-1.4 and RR=1.18, 95%CI 1.01-1.39, respectively).

Living in or near the capital decreases the average relative risk of death. In order to increase the survival time of HIV/Aids patients in Alagoas, it is suggested to decentralize specialized health care, that is, to create regional centers to care for these people.

To analyze the characteristics and trends of HIV/AIDS epidemic in Uruguaiana, Rio Grande do Sul, between 2005 and 2015 through indicators related to infection and the cascade of care of people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA).

Descriptive study performed with data from the Health Information Systems of the Ministry of Health. Historical sets of indicators related to detection of HIV/AIDS cases and deaths were developed, comparing with national and state data from 2005 to 2015. Also, the cascades of care for PLWHA were elaborated for the municipality between 2013 and 2015.

AIDS detection rates of Uruguaiana were higher in comparison to the country and state, the same happened with the mortality and lethality indicators, which varied between 35.1 and 17.7 deaths/100,000 inhabitants and 6.5 and 2.7 deaths/100 inhabitants, respectively. The cascades of care for PLWHA showed an increase in individuals diagnosed with HIV in the period (from 1,125 to 1,527). The main gap occurred between the “diagnosed” and “connected” categories, expanding over time (78, 48 and 43.4%, respectively). There was a low proportion of individuals in the “undetectable viral load” category in the three years, ranging from 32 to 22.9%.

Indicators of detection, mortality, and lethality due to HIV/AIDS are high in Uruguaiana, with an increase in the number of people diagnosed with HIV and decrease in their link with health services, suggesting the need for advances in strategies to attract and link PLWHA to the health care network.

The main objective of this paper was to analyze the relation between GDP and three variables linked to traffic accidents in Brazilian municipalities traffic accident mortality, deaths per vehicle; and vehicles per inhabitant.

2005, 2010 and 2015 traffic accident (TA) mortality rates were estimated using a three-year moving average and were standardized; then, we applied the empirical Bayes estimator (EBE). Fatality rates (deaths per vehicle) were also based on EBE. The variable vehicles per inhabitant considered the ratio between the fleet and the population at municipal level. For every studied year, we estimated linear regression models between GDP and the interest variables.

The variables distribution indicates that, between 2005 and 2015, GDP and vehicles per inhabitant kept the same rising relationship. PHTPP supplier Fatality rates show a decreasing association with GDP. The distribution of mortality by TA had an inverted U-shaped pattern. The model coefficients practically did not change for the vehicle per inhabitant. Estimated association between deaths per vehicle and GDP kept the same sign, but diminished between 2005 and 2015. Model coefficient sign changed in 2015 for TA mortality.

Similar to what was observed in developed countries, the relation between mortality by traffic accidents and GDP changed in the analyzed period.

This research analyzed a joint spatial distribution and explored the possible associations between epidemiological aspects and feminicide rates, in towns of the Sergipe State in Northeastern Brazil.

An exploratory ecological study investigated the global spatial autocorrelation of epidemiological aspects with femicide rates from towns in Sergipe State, Brazil, (n = 75), in the 2013-2017 period, using the “global” and “local” Moran statistic method and a multiple spatial regression. The exposure variables included socioeconomic and demographic conditions, services and health condition, and femicide rates. We used the software Stata 11.0, SPSS 18.0 and GeoDa 0.95-i.

The spatial distribution of femicide rates was not random and showed high spatial autocorrelation and predominance of significant spatial groupings of towns with the highest mortality rates due to femicide in the central region of Sergipe State. In the multiple regression analysis, the percentage of women in charge of families and the Municipal Human Development Index were positively associated with the femicide rates in towns in Sergipe’s municipalities in the studied period (p < 0.05). The opposite situation occurred between the Income Concentration Index (GINI) and the femicide rates.

This is the first study that has analyzed the factors associated with the spatial clusters of femicide rates in a geographical space where there is a predominance of patriarchal culture. There was a femicide increase in locations with the lowest social inequality, the highest human development and authority exercised by women in the family environment.

To estimate the prevalences of hypertension and diabetes for small areas in Belo Horizonte, according to the Health Vulnerability Index (HVI).

Ecological study with data from the Surveillance of Risk and Protection Factors for Chronic Diseases by Telephone Survey (Vigitel) conducted in Belo Horizonte, from 2006 to 2013. The self-reported diagnosis of diabetes and hypertension were evaluated. The estimates of prevalence and the 95% confidence interval (95%CI) were calculated using the direct and indirect method by HVI grouped into four categories low, medium, high and very high health risk.

During the period evaluated, 26% (95%CI 25.2 – 26.8) and 6.1% (95%CI 6.7 – 6.5) of the adult population from Belo Horizonte reported being hypertensive and diabetic, respectively. According to the indirect method to obtain estimates of hypertension and diabetes prevalences per HVI, it was found that areas of very high risk had a higher prevalence of adults with hypertension (38.6%; 95%CI 34.8 – 42.4) and diabetes (16.
