    This study reported a “treating waste by waste” strategy to dispose waste activated sludge (WAS), i.e. reverse osmosis (RO) brine-enhanced anaerobic fermentation. RO brine was hazardous by-product from seawater desalination process, which contains numerous Na+. After 4-day RO brine-enhanced anaerobic fermentation at Na+ concentration of 0.33 mol/L, 5.0 g/L VSS reduction (37.9% of VSS) was achievable, leading to considerable soluble chemical oxygen demand (SCOD) release of 349.6 mg/g VSS. Acetic acid was predominant component in SCOD (31.1%), followed by propionic, butyric, valeric acids and proteins (14.0-17.6%). Sludge solubilization and SCOD composition in the enhanced anaerobic fermentation with RO brine and NaCl agent were similar, whereas less nutrient release and extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) disruption were achieved by RO brine, attributing to the Ca2+&Mg2+-caused skeleton strengthening on EPS matrix. Such RO brine-based strategy provided environmental and economic benefits, e.g. none chemical consumption, synchronous disposal of WAS and RO brine.

    The evidence of effectiveness and safety of the non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants (NOACs) among elderly East Asians is limited.

    We aimed to describe the effectiveness and safety outcomes associated with NOACs and warfarin among elderly Koreans aged ≥80 years.

    Using the Korean Health Insurance Review and Assessment service database, patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) who were naïve to index oral anticoagulant between 2015 and 2017 were included in this study (20,573 for NOACs and 4086 for warfarin). Two treatment groups were balanced using the inverse probability of treatment weighting (IPTW) method. The clinical outcomes including ischemic stroke, major bleeding including intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) and gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB), and a composite of these outcomes were evaluated.

    Compared to warfarin, NOACs were associated with lower risks of ischemic stroke (hazard ratio 0.74 [95% confidence interval 0.62-0.89]), and composite outcome (0.78 [0.69-0.90]). NOACs showed nonsignificant trends towards to lower risks of GIB and major bleeding than warfarin. The risk of ICH of NOAC group was comparable with the warfarin group. Among NOACs, apixaban and edoxaban showed better composite outcomes than warfarin. Among the clinical outcomes, only ischemic stroke and the composite outcome had a significant interaction with age subgroups (80-89 years and ≥90 years, P-for-interaction = .097 and .040, respectively).

We present a coarse-grained molecular dynamics (CGMD) study for investigating an effect of temperature on the structural organization of DPPC-nanodisc and POPC-nanodisc. A non-monotonic response of physical quantities (i.e. the lipid order parameter, nanodisc flatness, structural change, solvation property, radius of gyration) with increase in temperature (T = 200-350 K) is found to be associated with the gel-ripple-liquid crystalline phase change within nanodiscs. The reorganization of lipids upon temperature variation induced conformational changes of MSP to minimize hydrophobic exposure of the lipid membrane to an aqueous environment. This study investigated the psychometric properties and the factor structure of LSHS-E Hindi among healthy adults of Delhi. LSHS-E was translated from English to Hindi and then back to English. It was administered as a paper pencil questionnaire to 182 adults from the general population. It was tested against the Community Assessment of Psychic Experiences (CAPE-42) for convergent and divergent validity. Latent Class Analysis (LCA) was performed to identify subgroups with different endorsement of HLEs. Among 182, 18 participants reporting mental and neurological disorders were excluded. LSHS-E Hindi had good reliability (0.85; 95% CI 0.82 to 0.88). CFA of Hindi LSHS-E revealed the a priori four-factor solution to be best, namely ‘intrusive thoughts’, ‘vivid daydreams’, ‘multisensory HLEs’, ‘auditory and visual HLEs’. LSHS-E Hindi showed stronger correlation with positive domain of CAPE than with negative and depression domains. LCA revealed three classes low, intermediate and high endorsement of HLEs. Participants with highest endorsement of HLEs were less educated and had highest endorsement on all CAPE dimensions. LSHS-E Hindi has good psychometric properties and can be used to study HLEs in Indians. The four-factor structure model depicts the multidimensionality of HLEs, with ‘intrusive thoughts’ being the most commonly reported HLE in the sample. LCA supports the continuum hypothesis of HLEs.

    Postpartum depression (PPD) is the most common psychiatric condition after childbirth which not only effects the mother’s health, but also might have impact on child’s development and parenting behaviors. Because the etiology of PPD has not been fully cleared, the efforts towards identification of risk factors are crucial for both the children and mother’s health.

    PubMed, EMBASE and PsycINFO databases were searched since inception until July 2019 to collect data about the risk factors of PPD and only systematic review and meta-analysis can be included.

    To identify the real risk factors, protective factors and controversial factors, nineteen parts of the interpretation were adopted. The risk factors are mainly concentrated in the following aspects violence and abuse, immigration status, gestational diabetes, cesarean section, depressive history, vitamin D deficiency, obese and overweight, postpartum sleep disruption and poor postpartum sleep, lack of social support, traditional dietary pattern (Japanese, Indian, United Kingdom, and Brazilian dietary pattern), multiple births, preterm and low-birth-weight infants, postpartum anemia, negative birth experience.
