Intrusions in posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are clinically understood as conditioned responses (CRs) to trauma-cues; however, experimental evidence for this is limited. We subjected 84 healthy participants to a differential conditioned-intrusion paradigm, where neutral faces served as conditioned stimuli (CSs) and aversive film clips as unconditioned stimuli (USs). While one group only completed acquisition, another group additionally received extinction. Subsequently, participants provided detailed e-diary intrusion reports. Several key findings emerged First, participants in both groups re-experienced not only USs but also CSs as content of their intrusions. Second, intrusions were elicited by cues resembling CSs, USs, and experimental context. Third, extinction reduced probability and severity of US intrusions, and accelerated their decay, and this was particularly the case in participants showing greater cognitive (US-expectancy) and physiological (SCR) differential responding to CS+ vs. CS- at end of acquisition (i.e., conditionability). Similarly, extinction reduced CS-intrusion probability and severity, but only in participants with greater cognitive conditionability. These results support conditioning’s role in re-experiencing in two critical ways (1) Conditioning during trauma provides cues that not only function as reminder cues, but also as content of intrusions; (2) After strong conditioning, weakening the original CS-US relationship via extinction reduces intrusion formation after analogue-trauma.Addressing the improvement of the textile characteristics is currently required in natural color production of alpaca fiber. This study analyses the possibility of implementing a genetic improvement program aiming to reduce the fiber diameter and the percentage of medullation in natural colors under the incomplete definition of the natural colors of alpaca fiber. The study considers color determination analysis in three separate steps. The first step aimed at finding the values of lightness (L*), red/green axis (a*), yellow/blue axis (b*) of three-dimensional space of color and chroma (C*ab), tone (h*ab) and color difference (ΔE) with mathematical models for the description of the coat color. The second analysis is aimed at estimating genetic parameters of color traits and their correlation with fiber traits (fiber diameter, standard deviations and percentage of medullation – PM). The third step was to determine the potential selection criteria of breeding animals based on the parameters provided by a three-dysis showed a high percentage of correct assignment in white (99.15%) and black (99.19%) coat colors for Huacaya type alpacas, while for the intermediate colors, the accuracy was lower. It is better to use the values of the three-dimensional space and within them, the values of L* and b* are potential selection criteria to be included in a genetic improvement program.Community-based sheep breeding programs (CBBPs) have been adopted strategically to improve Bonga sheep, the most popular sheep breed in Ethiopia. The present study was undertaken to estimate genetic parameters and genetic trends for growth traits and inbreeding levels in each Bonga sheep CBBP. Data pertaining to growth traits, spanning a period of seven years (2012-2017), were collected from 14 Bonga sheep CBBPs. Data were analyzed using the General Linear Model procedure of SAS to study the performance of the breed over the years. The genetic parameters were estimated by univariate and multivariate animal model using restricted maximum likelihood method of WOMBAT software. The genetic trends were estimated by the regression of the average breeding values of the animals on the year of birth. The overall least square means ± SE of BW (kg) were 3.10 ± 0.010, 16.1 ± 0.07, 24.7 ± 0.20, 30.4 ± 0.40 and 34.0 ± 0.84 for birth weight (BWT), weaning weight (WWT), six-month weight (SMWT), nine-month weight (NMWT) and yearling weight (YWT), respectively. Direct heritability estimates from selected models were 0.56 ± 0.030, 0.36 ± 0.030, 0.22 ± 0.040, 0.17 ± 0.070 and 0.13 ± 0.150 for BWT, WWT, SMWT, NMWT and YWT, respectively. Six-month weight was the selection trait and presented positive trends for 10 CBBPs, and negative trends for four CBBPs. Moderate to high heritability estimates and positive genetic trends indicated scope for further improvement of BW. Additionally, the positive and high correlation between BW traits indicated that selection for just one trait would also improve the other traits through correlated responses.Wastewater effluent from meat processing industries are enriched with nutrients but remain underutilized. Therefore, an efficient method was administered by employing this resource for the cultivation of Porphyreum cruentium. The cultured biomass was exposed to a one-step disruption and selective purification method using a protic deep eutectic solvent to obtain a commercially significant pigment, R-Phycoerythrin (R-PE). Six protic deep eutectic solvents (pDES) were synthesized and their thermophysical activity determined. A synergy between microwave and cavitation (MACE-DLPME) has been achieved for the effective recovery of these membrane proteins. The addition of pDES provides the selective medium for the concentration of R-PE. It was found maximum cumulative methane production increased from 98.1 ± 3.1 to 166.0 ± 4.3 mL/g Volatile Suspended Solids (VSS) with dosage increasing from 0 (control) to 40 mg SLS/g TSS. But the addition of SLS (>10 mg SLS/g Total Suspended Solids (TSS)) resulted in prolonged lag phase time. Microbiological analysis showed that Syntrophobacter and Syntrophomonas both got enriched in reactors fed with SLS. Furthermore, hydrogenotrophic methanogens genus got more enrichment in contrast to acetoclastic methanogens. Mechanism analysis indicated that addition SLS could decrease surface tension, and promote release of organic matters as well as improve activities of hydrolytic enzymes. Besides, SLS could be nearly degraded completely within 3 days, and its degradation intermediates could be further transformed into methane gradually, thus enhancing methane production eventually.
